Weekly EcoHouse Stewardship

Start: Tuesday, Jul 8 at 5 p.m.
End: Tuesday, Jul 8 at 6:30 p.m.

EcoHouse
22 Veevers Drive, Hamilton, ON, Canada

Our EcoHouse sits on 2 acres featuring Hamilton’s first community garden, a mini-forest, rain gardens, demonstration eco-lawn patches, solar panels, permeable pavers, and more. These grounds require ongoing maintenance to continue serving as an ecological demonstration space for the community. As an Environmental Volunteer, you’ll support various gardening and landscaping projects at the EcoHouse education center. No tools or prior experience are necessary!
Volunteers will:
- Learn about biodiversity and invasive species, gaining valuable insights into our local ecosystem
- Make a tangible difference in our local ecosystem by contributing to its preservation
- Perform gardening tasks such as removing invasive plants, planting natives, creating new demonstration gardens, sowing seeds, mulching, watering, and so much more!

Throughout the summer, workshops where volunteers can learn more about topics like fungi, ecological gardening, the importance of low-impact development sites, and invasive vs native species identification, will be offered.

On rainy days, volunteers will also support our environmental initiatives, such as seed sorting, which helps to promote native plant growth.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just curious, everyone is welcome. Bring your friends and family to connect, contribute, and learn how to support green infrastructure sites around Hamilton!

Location:
22 Veevers Dr, Hamilton, ON L8K 5P7

What to Bring / Wear:
Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, a sunhat, and sunscreen, and bring a reusable water bottle. We will provide tools, gloves, bags, and anything else we may need, but feel free to bring your own gloves and tools if you prefer. Food and drink will be provided!
