Weekly Barton St Stewardship

Start: Thursday, Jul 17 at 4:30 p.m.
End: Thursday, Jul 17 at 5:30 p.m.

Barton St E
Barton Street East, Hamilton, ON, Canada

Commit to keeping Barton Street East green this summer by joining our weekly Barton Street Stewardship events. Every Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, we will care for the seven green spaces along Barton Street through activities such as invasive species removal, native plantings, litter cleanups, pruning, and more.

During these meetings, volunteers will learn how to perform basic maintenance at various green spaces, including plant identification, weeding, pruning, mulching, and more. You'll also learn about the amazing 7 Low Impact Development (LID) depave sites along Barton St E, designed to manage stormwater runoff by utilizing natural processes, and gain valuable skills to help steward green spaces across Hamilton.

Volunteers will also learn about the benefits of native plants and why we prioritize them at our sites.

What to Bring / Wear: Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes and long pants. Bring a reusable water bottle. We will provide gloves, bags, and other tools. Please feel free to bring your own gloves and tools.

Transportation + Parking: Green Venture encourages active and sustainable transportation. Transportation via public transit is available, Route #2, Barton.

Location: 571 Barton St E, Hamilton

Please remember to complete the volunteer waiver and let us know if you can no longer attend.
